Historic Royal Palaces has now given After The Antique permission to reproduce important fireplaces from private apartments at Kensington Palace, Hampton Court, the Tower of London and other Royal Palaces.
The first historic pieces to be reproduced are both from Kensington Palace. After The Antique has used enormous skill to create perfect copies of the Honeysuckle Fireplace in Queen Victoria's childhood bedroom and the Acorn Fireplace from Princess Margaret's private dining room.
The references were collated from photographs, detailed drawings, on-site measurements and plaster-casts of the decorative detailing; matching everything down to the marble graining on the original fireplaces. Each copy is entirely hand carved by After The Antiques' stonemasons, is numbered and comes with a letter of provenance. The designs can also be re-scaled to fit specific locations.
